Flock is looking for a highly motivated and energetic communications intern, to help establish ourselves as thought leaders in the rapidly expanding drone industry. You will be a key member of a small, fast-moving team, working alongside our extensive network of partners and advisors to define our communications strategy, and becoming a public voice of our company both online and off.
Together with Flock’s founding team and our network of marketing experts, you will help to develop content, organise and publicise industry-leading events, maintain social media and online channels, and convert the highly technical work we undertake into easily digestible, media-friendly publications. We will be developing our brand with the R/GA, a world-leading branding and communications agency. You will be involved in this process from the very beginning.
Who are we?
We are a small, well-connected, highly energetic team from Cambridge University, Oxford University and Imperial, now based in Clerkenwell, London. We get things done quickly, set optimistic objectives, and work hard to meet them. We are technology enthusiasts, working at the bleeding edge of the global drone revolution.
We are building a Big-Data driven risk analysis platform for drones, aggregating and analysing real-time data to make drones safe and smart in cities. Our first product is a pay-as-you-fly insurance solution for drone flights.
We recently closed a funding round lead by London VC Downing Ventures, alongside the London Co-Investment Fund and a syndicate of highly specialised angels (including big names in the automotive, Big Data, insurance and startup worlds). We are supported by Innovate UK, and we are now working in collaboration with the Ordnance Survey. We’ve been featured in the Financial Times, TechCrunch, The Guardian, Mashable, and more; we’ve pitched to Her Majesty The Queen, and we’ve travelled around the world to present Flock globally. If this sounds like the environment you’re looking for, we want to chat!
Who are you?
You’ve had work experience in a communications position.
You are passionate about building brand voices and becoming their representative both online and offline.
You’ve become a thought leader in a community or social network, and you keep a healthy network of followers.
You are good at managing your workflow and you feel comfortable working on projects on your own. You are excited about working with technical people, and can excite the non technical about what we do.
Legally able to work in the UK.
Most importantly, you are excited about new technology, and you follow the latest technological trends.
What we offer:
We’re a fast-moving startup, a small (but rapidly growing) team that operates at the forefront of drone safety software globally. As our comms intern, you’ll help to define the way we communicate with stakeholders, including regulators, insurance companies, drone startups, and international technology companies.
You will be surrounded with and supported by Flock’s team and advisors in several industries, including marketing. You will learn and alongside with them.
You will work at one of the swankiest offices in Clerkenwell, London (with a fascinating history; Karl Marx used to write here!) alongside a range of innovative startups, all working at the cutting edge of urban innovation in London’s ‘Geovation Hub’.
Part-time paid internship, with flexible working hours.
A fun, relaxed, and friendly work environment, with trips and days out, the opportunity to talk on-stage at conferences and shows.
Send your CV and a (brief) cover letter (or click ‘apply using LinkedIn’ above). If possible, please share some social media links to a piece of a written work you are proud of.
Initial 10 minute phone conversation.
We will invite you for interview with Ed (CEO) and Antton (Founder) at our offices in Clerkenwell, where you can ask any questions you might have, and we can discuss the role in more detail.
Meet the entire team over a pint (or coffee - you choose!)
Like how it sounds? Then come fly with us!
Application deadline: 15th of March
